Synergetic Education And Development

Planting Seeds of Learning
At SEADPod, we believe in fostering a love for learning that is rooted in connection.
Our aim is to plant seeds that germinate curiosity and grow into a life-long passion for discovery and creation. We empower individuals to thrive in a nurturing environment where learning becomes an exciting journey beyond the traditional four walls of a classroom. People of all walks of life are welcomed in this
space and embraced for who they are, for every being has a gift to offer.

Home Learning Pod
SEADPod is a place for young learners to thrive in alternative education settings and for parents to have partnership in carrying the home-learning work load - a first of its kind in our local area. Learners meet in a small group, in a prepared home learning environment, two mornings per week. Foundational subjects of Language Arts & Mathematics are at the core of our time together; however, many child-led projects take us into subjects such as art, history, geography and science. Additionally, emphasis is always placed on each individual knowing their personal needs and finding unique ways to meet them with the support of The Guide.
The curriculum is child-led using the Montessori spiraling scope & sequence that spans the various learning levels of all pod members and hones the advantages of multi-age learning while meeting or exceeding ministry expectations. Additionally, learners attend 1-2 hours each week of private 1:1 instruction to help tackle harder concepts without peer interruption. Following the morning, the Pod enjoys afternoon PE classes at various spaces in town. Getting out into our community is important, so we embark on multiple field-trips per year!
The SeadPod runs September - June and follows the district's seasonal break schedule. Enrolment is year-long with re-registration and interviews with potential new families happening each spring. Members of the Pod are thoughtfully chosen to help maintain a sense of safety & harmony felt among the group, ages 5 - 12.

1:1 Tutoring
One-on-one tutoring for elementary students offers personalized attention and tailored learning experiences while using various kinesthetic materials to help bring abstract concepts into concrete reality.
Tutoring fosters a supportive environment where the learner can ask questions without fear of peer embarrassment - a factor that can hinder a child's learning in a classroom environment. The learner receives immediate feedback and answers to their questions which enhances their understanding and confidence in challenging subjects.
Personalized tutoring sessions are adapted to the individual’s learning style and pace, ensuring that lessons are both engaging and comprehensible. In this approach, a child can move through lessons as fast or slow as they wish; completely eliminating the need to keep pace with the classroom/peers.
The Guide focuses directly on the individual needs of the learner, identifying strengths and areas for improvement more effectively. This individualized approach not only improves academic understanding, but more importantly, it builds meaningful connections between The Guide and the student which in turn nurtures a positive attitude towards learning and self-esteem.

"Sharlie is so well versed and skilled in what she is doing that she really sets herself apart with the kids and the parents. She creates such an amazing learning space and opportunity for the kids to challenge themselves in a fully supported way. She truly lights them up and makes them feel safe at the same time. So grateful to have met her 6+ years ago now and excited to see her program continue to grow."

I am thankful to have found a place of safety and security for my child when she needed a calm and non-judgmental space to heal and then flourish. Being here has offered the right combination of freedom within structure and guidance that has allowed confidence, self-assurance and friendships to develop at the pace unique to my child. The Pod has also offered me, as a parent, a door into a community of caring and support that allows me to really see my child and parent her better than I could have done without the insight and understanding that has come from being part of this community.

Sharlie really sees each child for who they are and what they need; she has been such a positive influence in our son’s life. She developed a personalized learning plan and guided him with care in both individual and group settings. In her calm and nurturing space, he grew into a confident, motivated learner, and his anxiety subsided completely. We are deeply grateful to Sharlie for her time, dedication, and expertise. It has been incredible to witness our son’s transformation in such a supportive and healthy space.
